Summary

Class Three is for handlers who have passed the Class Two Stage Test. The class is taught off-lead.

Exercises

The following new exercises are covered by the class:

• Heel work (no commands)
• Sit stay (out of sight)
• Down stay (out of sight)
• Retrieve (over a jump)
• Scent (progression upto 6 cloths)
• Send away (with ‘A’ recall)
• Search

Stage Three Test taken in Class Three

• Only one command of HEEL can be given when stepping off
• Additional commands in any exercise will be penalised
Two levels of pass:
• Between 12 ½ and 18 marks lost – stage 3b Certificate
• 0-12 points lost – Stage 3a Certificate

What your dog will be tested on:

• Heelwork off lead at normal, fast and slow pace
• ‘A’ Recall
‘A’ Scent or ‘CD’ search:
•‘A’ Scent: 6 scent cloths in a straight line and the dog must find the cloth with the handlers scent on it
• ‘CD’ search: 3 articles to be found in 4 minutes in a search square 15 yards  15 yards
• Retrieve a Dumb Bell
• Sit Stay – 2 minutes (out of sight)
• Down Stay – 10 minutes (out of sight)

Stage 4 Test taken in Class Four at the discretion of the Class Four Instructor

• Only one command of HEEL can be given when stepping off
• Additional commands in any exercise will be penalised
• No more than 12 points can be lost to pass

What your dog will be tested on:

• Heelwork off lead at normal, fast and slow pace
• ‘A’ Recall
‘B’ Scent or ‘CD’ search:
•‘B’ Scent: 10 scent cloths with the handler’s scent on one cloth and one decoy cloth.  Dog must find the cloth with the handler’s scent on it.
• ‘CD’ search: 5 articles to be found in 6 minutes in a search square 15 yards x 15 yards
• Retrieve a Dumb Bell over a jump
• Positions on the move: Dog to be left in a SIT, DOWN and STAND positions whilst the handler keeps moving
• Distant Control: With the handler standing at least 10 paces away from their dog, their dog is commanded six times in any combination of the following: SIT, DOWN and STAND positions.  Dog must not move more than one body length in any direction
• Sit Stay – 2 minutes (out of sight)
• Down Stay – 10 minutes (out of sight)
• Stand Stay – 1 minute (in sight, off lead)

Annual Membership Fees

Foundation Course Fees

(All new members must enroll their dog / puppy on our introductory 8 week Foundation Course)
• Foundation Course: £65 (inc. single membership)

Class Charges

All classes (except Foundation Course): £2 a week (including Puppy Class!)
