Summary
Basic Class is for handlers who have completed the Foundation Course. The class is taught on lead.
Exercises
The following new exercises are covered by the class:
• Left about turn
• Stand stay
• Novice recall (with finish)
• Change of pace (heel work)
• Track back (scent)
• Play retrieve
• Instant Down
• Socialisation
Basic Stage test – taken in Basic Class to move into Class One
• Tit-bits may be used
• As much encouragement and as many commands as necessary may be given
• No more than 7 points can be lost to pass
What your dog will be tested on:
• Heelwork (on lead): Lead must remain slack and a tight lead will be penalized
• Novice Recall (on lead): Includes a formal present and finish
• Sit Stay (on lead) – 1 minute
• Down Stay (on lead) – 1½ minutes
